Vista
“the view”
general.
Nestled between San Marcos, Oceanside, and Carlsbad, Vista is located just 7 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean. Initially inhibited by the lack of water, Vista grew slowly to less than 1,000 people. In 1923, the city had the necessary funding to construct a new water supply from Lake Henshaw. New buildings in downtown sprang up almost immediately. Agriculture began to flourish and by 1948, Vista became the "avocado capital of the world”. Vista has more than 25 educational institutions for youth, and a business park home to over 800 companies.
