Located north of San Diego and in Riverside County is an anchor for the inland empire. The area was inhabited by the Temecula Indians known as the Pechanga band of Luisenos for more than 10,000 years. Today, it is a tourist and resort destination with Temecula Valley Wine Country, Old Town Temecula, the International Film Festival, and the Balloon & Wine Festival. Temecula covers about 37 square miles with average high temperatures of 76 degrees and average lows of 53 degrees.
