Welcome Home Bimers!

“It finally feels like everything is falling into place!”

—Monique Bimer

I first met Robbie Bimer when I was 12 years old and have been great friends with the entire Bimer family ever since. Several years ago, Robbie introduced me to his beautiful wife, Monique. Since then they have welcomed the two cutest boys, Ollie and Owen, to their family. After renting a few different places in San Diego they made the tough decision to move in with Monique’s parents in Rancho Bernardo to save money and prepare to buy a home of their own. What was meant to be a short stay quickly turned into three years…

When I initially connected with Monique about finding a home we were in the midst of the pandemic. She shared her frustration with their previous home buying experience and how they had fallen out of escrow. Through no fault of his own, Robbie had his hours reduced at work when the pandemic hit. Like many Americans who had saved and waited to finally make their first home purchase, this was a crushing setback. Not only did they fall out of escrow but they also lost half of their earnest money in the process.

When Monique first told me the story I was sick to my stomach. I couldn't imagine going from the feeling of elation of finally owning a home to losing the house and half of the deposit in a matter of weeks. I was determined to help the Bimers find their dream home and make sure they felt comfortable throughout the process.

As we started the search for their home, I could tell they still felt a little hesitant about jumping back into the process so soon. I assured them that my number one priority would be to protect them and limit their financial risk throughout. I made sure they knew our brokerage hadn't lost a deposit in 20 years.

After showing them a number of homes, we submitted offers for one property and then another. While we were in negotiations on two separate homes, we determined that ultimately the value and price didn't match on either home. There were some high offers being made and ultimately neither house felt like the best fit for the price point. Feeling doubtful and a little deflated, the Bimers moved on knowing they had made the right decision about standing pat with their last offers.

And then we went to see the house on Humber Drive. Robbie and Monique immediately fell in love with the kitchen, the potential of the big backyard, the feeling of safety for their boys as the home sits at the end of a cul-de-sac, and the fact that there was a bedroom on the first floor. This is how thoughtful and caring the Bimers are - they were thinking about their aging parents and wanted them to have easy access to a first-floor bedroom when they come to visit. We submitted an offer and after negotiations, we ended up beating out five other offers (including higher offers) to secure the home! Monique said, "it finally feels like everything is falling into place!”.

During escrow, Monique AND Robbie both received and accepted new job offers. In the excitement of having a large backyard, they also adopted a puppy! I joked with them… you all didn't have enough going on?! They bought a house, both changed jobs, moved to a new city, trained a new puppy - all while homeschooling their two young boys. No big deal!

They moved in just before Christmas, a positive end to a challenging year and journey! Big, HUGE congratulations to the Bimer Family!! Thank you for allowing me to be a small part of your journey!
